How To Turn $4.50 Into $120

Posted on

A few weeks ago I was driving to meet someone and I passed a sign that said “Gigantic Yard Sale.”  I had a few minutes to spare, the weather was beautiful, so I decided to stop and see what they had. Knowing how to sell on Amazon and Ebay, yard sales are one of my favorite ways to find inventory to resell at very high margins.

When I got out of my truck, they were right, it was gigantic. Lots of items and lots of people.

I always look around and try to locate items that are new and never opened as my first wave of shopping. If I have time I will look at some used items after I have been though the yard sale once. They had lots of books and I like to look though the books, they are easy to ship and USPS will ship books very inexpensive with their media mail service. There were toys, cloths, house ware items, puzzles, just lots of things like most yard sales.

I saw several things but there was one that was very neat. I had seen it before and thought it would be fun for the kids to play with when I saw it in a store last year. It was a set of indoor snow balls. It had never been opened and 40 cloth snowballs in each package. You can see them here. The price was $1.50 per set. Selling price on Amazon was $39.95. Bingo. I scooped up all three sets and keep looking around.

Checking the selling price on Amazon and Ebay is not hard. The Amazon and Ebay app on your phone will let you scan the bar code to see the prices that items are selling for. When you use the Ebay app you can filter your search to sold items and then you will know what your item has sold for and what date it last sold for. Amazon has a seller app you can get after you sign up as a seller but when you first starting out you can scan with the regular Amazon app.

Found some other things that I could sell (I will tell you about them in another post), got a few items for my daughter, she is a kindergarten teacher, paid for my items and left.

Turned my $4.50 purchase into $120.00 with my spare time.

Learning how to make some extra money is not hard to do, it just takes a little time to learn how. You can learn own your own or the easiest way is to learn from someone that is actually doing it. Most people, an extra $300 to $500 a month would really help close their month and their money.

Think about what an extra $500 a month could do for you. It could pay for a new car or a second car, pay off debt that is growing faster than you can keep up with, or even start a retirement account for you and your love ones.

Putting a few hundred dollars away each month for a college fund would make a great difference in a child life.
